How to Submit
Tell us about your writing. To submit, share a short synopsis, a sample of your prose, and where the manuscript stands today. We’d also like to know more about you, because making art is an act of community.
We read every submission carefully and aim to respond within six to eight weeks. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please let us know if your work is placed elsewhere.
Form & Length
Our primary interest is novels and novellas, roughly 40,000 to 60,000 words. We do not publish short story collections.
Who We Publish
Fillmore Press is rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area and the American West, and we’re especially drawn to writers in relationship with these places — including those who arrived as part of a diaspora and made this their ground. Read more about our identity on our About page.
Not a Fit
Genre and commercial fiction may not work with us. But if you’re unsure whether your work fits, the best way to find out is to send it.
A Note About AI
To labor over every word is human. Especially in art. As such, we don’t publish works of AI, and we’ll ask for an honest account of your own originality throughout the process. Read our full policy on AI here.
